Dr Céline Thomet

Dr. Thomet was born in Geneva, where she achieved her entire education. After completing her medical studies at the University of Geneva, Céline Thomet obtained her medical degree in 2009. She began her internship in general surgery at the Pourtalès Hospital in Neuchâtel for two years. She then pursued her training in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery for three years at the Geneva University Hospital, followed by one year of training in Brussels at the Saint-Luc University Hospital. In 2015, she returned to the HUG as Chief Resident in plastic surgery. She obtained her Swiss specialist degree (FMH) in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery in 2016.

Training

During her training, Dr. Thomet acquired specific skills in general plastic surgery, post-bariatric surgery, reconstructive and cosmetic surgery, with a particular interest in breast reconstruction surgery. She worked closely with the Breast Centre to provide quality care to patients who have breast cancer, specialising in breast reconstruction. She is authorised to perform all types of reconstruction, including microsurgical breast reconstruction (using only the patient’s tissues). She has also written a brochure on breast reconstruction for patients.

Thanks to her training in microsurgical techniques, she has also specialised in reconstruction in complex cases in the head and neck areas (after throat or mouth cancer) and in lower extremity reconstruction after trauma or cancer.

During her training at the GUH, she participated in the surgical care of children affected by noma, one of the specialities of the service headed by Professor Brigitte Pittet-Cuénod.

Collaborations

Furthermore, Dr. Thomet worked in close collaboration with the dermatology division of the GUH, providing care to patients with skin cancer, such as basal and squamous cell carcinomas, and melanoma, including lymph node removal (sentinel lymph node and curettage). As a referring doctor, she provided surgical care to patients with lipodystrophy.

Dr. Thomet is a member of the FMH (Swiss Medical Association), the AMG (Geneva Medical Doctor Association) and the SSCPRE (Swiss Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery).

She set up her own practice on 1st October, 2018. She has forged a partnership with Dr. Marie Forcada, a distinguished plastic surgeon, who has had a practice since 1994. Dr. Céline Thomet’s goal is to pursue her activities in her favourite field, breast reconstruction, and to provide an ethical and measured approach to plastic and aesthetic surgery.
